Together, we raised more than $4,700 to help more people access the outdoors.
What started as a phone call between Mountain Gazette Editor-in-Chief Mike Rogge and Burgeon Outdoor Founder Rudy Glocker turned into something bigger: a sustainable hoodie that gives back.
We created the limited-edition Burgeon x Mountain Gazette Hiser “Go Higher” Hoodie—a made-to-order piece, sewn in small batches in Gorham, NH. It was made using deadstock fabric—excess material from factory overruns—making it one of the most sustainable options out there. Fewer emissions. Less waste. No overproduction.
This collaboration checked all our boxes:
-
Raise money to help get folks outside who might not otherwise have the opportunity. (Thanks, AMC, for all you do!)
-
Make a functional, technical hoodie we’d actually wear—with a low environmental impact. (Made in the U.S. using deadstock Polartec® fabric.)
-
Come together as like-minded brands in the outdoor space. (Our communities should know each other!)
But this project was more than just about how it's made. It's about who it supports.
50% of every sale went to the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Outdoor Journey Fund, helping nonprofits connect their communities to the outdoors through guided trips, gear access, lodging, and more.
Thanks to your support, we’ve now donated over $4,700—fueling real opportunities for more people to experience the wild places we love.
