Postcard: Stegosaurus Ridge

What is it about couloirs that incites such a rush? I like the walls. It is the closest I have come in the mountains to feeling like I am inside a wave. This particular tube snakes up a rock wall off the north side of Stegosaurus Ridge, a seldom skied zone in Colorado’s Upper Blue River valley. I don’t know if it has a name, but we skied it a few years ago and felt a return was in order last week. After a deep (and yet ongoing) winter, the onset of the spring steeps season tempers the sadness I feel when fresh powder becomes endangered. (Click image to enlarge.)
